Dalton Alan Rooks was born in Norfolk, Virginia. His dad served in the Navy and moved the family around until, at the age of nine, Dalton became a permanent resident of Vero Beach. His interest in music began with his involvement in the Oslo middle school band. He chose the saxophone as his favorite instrument and entered Vero Beach High School with the intent of pursuing music. High school gave him the time and freedom to branch out and enjoy much of his God-given talent by serving as Band Captain in his senior year and joining King's Church as an instrumentalist in the worship team.Dalton is currently a music performance and composition major at Indian River State College. He plays lead alto sax in both performing jazz bands, as well as principal alto and soprano sax in the wind ensemble. He studies the saxophone, clarinet, and flute under Bob Davis (lead alto player for the great Les Brown band). We at Framework see Dalton already making a difference in the lives of others, using his leadership and musical gifts.
Dalton also has interests in wakeboarding, foreign languages, and holds a black belt in martial arts. He is widely described by his friends as a "different kind of character” and holds this as a high compliment. At the spark of inspiration, he has been known to pull out an instrument and play in public. He claims that "the will to be different adds suspense and color to our lives." Dalton enjoys fellowship with his friends and family, as well as sharing his personality with others.
